It is four in the morning as I write this. The work has calmed down for the night. Everyone has gone home. The scroll saw is resting in its blanket of sawdust, the airbrush is quietly cradled in its stand. The classic Star Trek episodes have been turned off. There is a satisfying stillness. These are the moments where The Farm is the most beautiful.
We’ve made so many new friends, met so many fans, and grown so much. As the year comes to a close, it is difficult to not be sentimental about how far we’ve come in the last three years… especially in just the last year.
2012 was so amazing! So many new designs and products were released. The new website was developed, and Free Drawings for Total Strangers became a real thing. We did a record number of shows, we were interviewed on blogs, and our products are starting to appear in stores. On top of all that, so many Christmas orders came in, we had to work around the clock to fill them. It’s hard to believe that so much had happened in just one year.
This year will be even more exciting! In 2013, there will be more designs, more products, we’ll be in more stores, there will be more harrowing road stories, and especially, lots more episodes of Cradle Me, Sky. There’s a lot to look forward to.
Our company isn’t just myself, Teeter and the people who work here like Victor, Maia, and Molly. When I started Red Rocket Farm, I thought it would be, but I was wrong. It’s all of us. It’s eight-year-old Alec, who bought his first piece of art from us. It’s Stacy who gave me a big “forever hug” after she got her drawing. It’s the Dunbars who have the biggest collection of our products (at least that we’ve seen!). It’s every person who has told us about a show we should do, bought products from us, shared one of our posts on Facebook, or even just said “I love you guys”.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Our fans, our friends, and our fans who have become friends… You have made this possible. You are the reason we’re doing this. Keep watching us, keep telling people about us, and we’ll keep creating things that will make you glad you knew us way back in 2012. Together.
